I was fortunate to be raised in a home that was supportive of my interest in music. My father was a musician and photographer, and he kept a vast and varied collection of vinyl in the house. As a child I was fascinated by album art and my ears were shaped by the many genres that spun on our turntable. As I came to know and love music through the sounds of those recordings, my dedication to the drums took a permanent hold. The more I pursued the drums, the more I gravitated to the journeymen/session elite who (more often than not) appeared in the credits of my favorite records; from them I continue to learn that when it comes to making music, sound and feel trump all.
I began my career as a drummer in 1994 and have been a fortunate sideman and leader based out of my hometown of Phoenix, AZ ever since. Listening to music remains my first favorite thing. I am equally drawn to both melody and lyrics and I really enjoy working behind singers in support of songs. I also enjoy the engineering aspect of both live sound and studio mixing, and more and more I find that I’m pushing faders as much as I’m holding sticks. I am grateful for the opportunity to earn my way through music and I hope to keep learning and growing through music for as long as I am able. Thanks for stopping by and feel free to drop me a line anytime…
